Columbus - Hunters took 23,600 white-tailed deer on a rain-soaked opening day of Ohio's gun season, according to the DNR Division of Wildlife. The preliminary figures show a decrease of 39 percent from last year's opening day total of 39,071.

On May 12, 2011, Akron Ohio resident, Zachary Jared was bowfishing at night on Turkeyfoot Lake in Summit County. It was there were he would arrow a record setting longnose gar that broke the tape at over 53 inches in length, weighing in at 19.21 pounds!
